West Ham back in for James Collins?

JAMES Collins will discuss his Aston Villa future with new boss Paul Lambert with West Ham placing their former defender on their potential summer shopping list.

Collins is entering the final 12 months of his four-year contract after preliminary talks about extending his deal broke down midway through last season.

The Welsh international will sit down with Lambert when he returns for pre-season training next month to find out if he is in the new manager’s plans.

And Hammers boss Sam Allardyce will keenly the monitor the situation after identifying Collins as a possible signing for the newly promoted East London club.

Villa paid West Ham around £5 million for Collins in August 2009 and, when fit, the centre half has been a first team regular alongside Richard Dunne.

But they would be unlikely to recoup that fee for the 28-year-old who has recently blighted his bright start with patchy form and disciplinary problems.

Collins has been fined twice in the past two seasons after getting embroiled in drunken incidents at a Leicestershire health spa and a Birmingham nightclub. Collins was part of the best defensive crew for a period in the club but bringing him back would be a bad idea in my opinion.

  1. We don’t need him we’ve got the one decent kiwi. Was very impressed with Reids performances last season let him n Tomkins have a go together they played alot of the seasons last couple of months together and will understand each others play rather than bringing in a new centre half. Get Scott dann or roger Johnson as a back up for Reid and Tomkins.
